Range Safety Protocols & Rules

A safe and enjoyable training environment is paramount. Therefore, please review the HST Safety Protocols and Safety Rules.

Safety Protocols

  1. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are not allowed.
  2. Handguns must have a holster with full trigger guard coverage & good retention.
  3. All firearms are to be unloaded prior to and after your participation in the competition event.
  4. Participants that are disregarding the safety protocols and safety rules will be disqualified from the competition and asked to leave the property without refund.

Safety Rules

  1. Treat every firearm as if it loaded.  The firearm must be pointed in a safe direction at all times.
  2. Do not put your finger on the trigger until the muzzle is pointed at the target and you have the intent to shoot the firearm.
  3. If you drop the firearm, do not try to stop it from falling.  Let it fall to the ground.
  4. Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction if hot brass falls on your skin.
  5. Do not load the firearm until given the range command to do so.
  6. Do not pick up anything on the ground while on the firing line until you are given the range command to do so.
  7. Do not press the trigger after administratively unloading the firearm.
